Train FAQ
How do I buy a ticket?
You can wait until you land and buy a ticket at the red ticket kiosk, but we recommend buying online beforehand.
Trainline and Omio are great apps that make it easy to buy tickets ahead of time and day-of.
How can I find my train?
The information for which platform your train will arrive at will be displayed on a screen (a lot like the one at the airport) look for the train number. The number will be something like RJX 860 or RJX 776
Which kind of ticket should I buy?
There will be three available kinds of tickets. These different types vary by flexibility.
1.Sparschiene- this ticket allows you only to use the train for the exact time you select. This is only a good idea if you re 100% sure you will be able to make this train at this exact time.
2.Sparshiene Komfort- This ticket is the same as Sparshiene but allows you to cancel the trip any time 15 days before the trip
3.Standard-Ticket: This ticket allows you to use any train on the day of or day after your selected train. It is the best choice if you are booking ahead of time.
Should I reserve a seat?
This is probably a good idea if you are a family or small group that would prefer to sit together. You will get a train car number and a seat number. Each train car is labeled with its own number and each seat is labeled as well. If you don’t get a seat reservation, you’ll have to check the small screen above each seat to make sure it is not already reserved. Also if the train is overcrowded, you will not be guaranteed a seat.
We recommend reserving a seat! If you need help finding where your seat is, the train conductors all speak English and will be able to help you.
Is there food and drinks available?
Yes! This is the fun part. Most long-distance trains will have a restaurant car where you can get a full, hot lunch with table service (highly reccomend) or snacks, sandwiches and coffee to go.
They are a little expensive, so it may also be a good idea to buy a bottle of water and a snack before you get on the train.
